Congratulations to Tom Glavine who won his 300th major league baseball game this weekend. I watched Glavine a lot back when he was with the Braves and pitching on the same staff as Greg Maddux, another 300 game winner. I'm glad to see he finally made it to 300 wins. This almost certainly makes him a hall of fame lock, which I think is as it should be. Glavine, Maddux, and John Smoltz personified defense when most of baseball was going ga-ga over home runs. Even they got into the act with a commercial in 1999 who's tag line was "Chicks dig the long ball". :-) But, for those of us who actually like the strategy needed to shut down your opponent and achieve a shutout, it's nice to see someone reach a milestone. Glavine becomes on the 23rd person ever to reach 300 wins. Congrats Tommy! You deserve it!
